There wasn’t a lot of enthusiasm for getting going this morning, at least on my part. Because we wanted to air the tents we didn’t get going until 0930. Basil Fawlty was at reception again, but quite cheery this morning.
Pleasant (i.e) gentle hills to Mungia for a breakfast stop.

Then onto Guernica. Lunch by the old market, brewing up like the couple of tramps we are !

Out of Guernica and it’s hitting the hills, started to look very Alpine again.

Actually, turns out it was very long hill but graded around 6% and lots of shade, which was just as well as it was 34c !

On the way up with passed the remains of an old quarry.

Throughout the day we were passed by lots of racing cyclists, a bit depressing as they wizzed past. We always got a wave and a cheery greeting (well I assume that’s what it was ) Overall, the people here have been really friendly and helpful. Hope it stays that way when we hit France.

After cresting the hill, we had a great ride down to Lekeitio where we stocked up on provision for dinner to make at the campsite.

Predictably the camping was 3km outside the village up a hill. Less predictably, it was closed !
So we decided to soldier on another 10k to just east of Ondarroa , to where we thought there was another campsite.

We were then on the coast road to San Sebastián so had some great views.

Also great was the campsite, nice and clean, cut grass, very hot showers ! and bar on site and pitch anywhere.
Nice dinner, then off to the bar.
