It was a luxury to sleep in a hotel last night, but after 77 miles we felt we had earned it. The hotel was OK, but some of the facilities were a bit lacking. Fortunately Tim with his decades of experience in the building industry and attention to Health and Safety came up with a solution !

Damp and drizzly start to the ride, breakfast on the way, at a lakeside cafe, with a very distinctly functional line in furniture !

We ended up staying at the cafe a while, as we were suddenly hit by a storm ! It very quickly turned dark, wet and windy, with rolling thunder in the distance.

It got progressively worse, with everyone having to take shelter inside, as horizontal rain lashed outside. Eventually after about 90 mins it began to clear.

We then headed North, only to get caught in another storm and torrential rain for the best part of an hour. We were riding on a long road with no cover and not exactly sure where we were, couldn’t even use the phone as screen and my hands were too wet. Eventually the rain passed and we found a bar, on entering we felt as welcome as gatecrashers at a funeral tea. The boss and customers all looked pissed !
Eventually we made our way to Biganos and our camp for the night. Only to be warned of more storms and hail and told where the safe refuges are ! Looking forward to tonight !
