Orages !

Storms were not what I was wanting to see on the local Meteo, but they didn’t come as any great surprise. I’d been expecting at least one washed out day here. It was raining hard through breakfast, but I decided as I had wet weather gear I should at least try to have a ride. I planned a simple, no train and easy to follow route into the hills. With my bravest face on, I sat in the hotel reception, putting on my rain jacket. It was nice and bright and warm, outside was anything but !

Once out it wasn‘t that bad, but it wasn’t easing off. A few brave souls were out walking on the Promenade, and super fit joggers were out running as if it was a summer’s day ( why do joggers never look happy ?)

I managed to get as far as the airport, before the sky lit up in front of me, closely followed by a deafening roar. I took a short break in the bike sheds and contemplated what to do, it didn’t take long ! Honour had been served by getting out, but the thought of heading up into the hills in a thunderstorm was not appealing, so back to the hotel it was.

As I’m flying home tomorrow, that marks the end of the cycling and blog entries ( unless something really spectacular happens ! ) I’m unlikely to getaway again this year, so thoughts now turn to 2025.
