Bye, bye Brittany

An early breakfast at our hotel fortified us for carrying all our baggage downstairs, and for the 1.5km ride to the ferry port. Having ridden the route yesterday it all went very smoothly.

Travelling light !

Brittany Ferries check in, passport control and security was all straightforward. No body scanners here, we were just asked if carrying anything dangerous (of course not). Then it was a short wait before boarding the ferry. Cabins were compulsory on this crossing, at least it gave us a place to leave some bags and relax if we were overtired on our short cruise. Then bang on time, off we went. Our brief sojourn in France coming to an end.

Au Revoir – St Malo
Hello – Isle of Wight !

Nine hours later, after a slight choppy but none the less relaxing crossing, we docked in Portsmouth, disembarked and cycled the short distance to the train station. There we said our goodbyes. David heading home to the Cotswolds and me to London.

London bound

All that is left is the unpacking and cleaning. Then over the long winter nights, thoughts will inevitably turn to the next adventure, unless I can squeeze something else in this year !
