A leisurely drive from Doncaster got me up close to the campsite by lunchtime. The local village (6 miles from the campsite) only had a mini supermarket, with the village cafe closed Mon-Weds. Still I bought some cold things for lunch and milk and headed off to camp.

The campsite itself was in a pretty idyllic setting, but really miles from anywhere. After meeting up with David and setting up the tents, we drove off to the “big village” (even further away) for an early pub dinner.
Back at camp it was tea and a good natter, until the midges started to arrive. First the odd one or two, who then obviously reported back to their mates as swarms arrived, we thought the wind would keep them at bay, but these must have been skilled flyers !
So it was a choice of covering ourselves with “Smidge” and wearing a headnet or retiring early. we both opted for the safety of our tents. Hopefully once we are close to the coast midges will be less of an issue.
More airborne attacks? At least Midges take smaller bites!
